Leeds Transformer

Specialist Transformers

At Leeds Transformer, we excel in the design and manufacture of specialist transformers, offering bespoke, high-performance solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of diverse and demanding applications. Our strength lies in our ability to deliver custom-built products that combine technical excellence with practical reliability, even in the most challenging environments.

Our extensive expertise includes the development of transformers designed for hazardous and high-risk locations. This includes fluid-filled models that utilise advanced insulating fluids such as Midel® 7131 and Dow Corning® Xiameter PMX-561 Silicone. These fluids offer enhanced thermal performance, environmental safety, and fire resistance, making them ideal for applications where both safety and efficiency are paramount.

We also manufacture epoxy cast resin encapsulated transformers, which are particularly well-suited for use on offshore oil rigs and in industrial environments that experience high levels of humidity, airborne contaminants, or continuous vibration. These designs provide excellent protection and long-term durability in harsh operating conditions. In addition, we supply subsea transformers specifically engineered for the remote control and operation of fixed seabed installations or robotic assets, ensuring reliable power delivery in demanding underwater applications.

Leeds Transformer also provide a broad range of additional transformer solutions to meet complex electrical challenges. Our capabilities include the supply of transformers with transient suppression features to protect sensitive systems from voltage surges. We also offer K-Factor transformers, designed to minimise the excessive heating effects caused by harmonic currents associated with non-linear loads, thereby improving equipment lifespan and system efficiency.

We can produce motor starting transformers using the well-established Korndorffer method, which helps to reduce inrush currents and limit mechanical stress during motor start-up. For applications requiring a stable and efficient DC power supply, we manufacture high-current transformers and Transformer-Rectifier Units (TRUs), which are engineered to support the specific operational requirements of various industrial sectors.
